Hooray It’s National Nipple Care Week!

National Nipple Care Week is a lesson in cleanliness.  Why is this important you ask?  Well, Michelle has been fighting a losing battle against a yeast infection for the last week or so.  YIKES!  I know that sounds horrible and it really is for poor Michelle and her sensitive nippies.  The deal is that because Michelle is breast feeding her risks of getting a yeast infection in the nipple region is quite high, especially because of the high temperatures of late.  Michelle has been taking pro-biotics and a few other things to try and clear the infection up.

Michelle has declared as of Thursday that we are now in the midst of National Nipple Care Week.  When she first told me of this, I honestly thought it was some real thing that her and her merry band of breast feeding mothers would recognize.  But, alas, it was just something she made up.  So, she has been taking pro-biotics, using nipple cream and making sure that she has been boiling everything in our apartment that has ever been touched by breast milk.  Not knowing whether or not she is making any progress she will as of tomorrow (and assuming we can find it) begin taking the ancient remedy called Gentian Violet.  Gentian Violet recommended by nearly everyone that she has been consulting with sounds pretty cool.  The only problem is that it supposedly stains everything that it touches purple.  I can’t wait to see just how much stuff we have left that isn’t purple when this is over.

So, we have and are trying everything that we possible can to get rid of the Thrush problem that has infected my favorite two ladies.  TGIF!!!  Gotta go, baby duty calls!!!

P.S. doesn’t Maya look super duper enthused about learning “Clean Needle Techniques” at feeding station number 1?  How totally cute is she?
