Labor day weekend was no joke. We were looking forward to a relaxing 3 day weekend at home. Needless to say, it turned out to be an all out final farewell to summer. Michelle went home on Wednesday or Thursday (the days all blend together). I wasn’t able to make it until after work on Friday. We met up at Michelle’s parents house. Saturday was a Harmon family shower for Maya. All of Marti’s (Michelle’s mom) family and friends turned up and got us a slew of excellent gifts. It was great to see everyone as it was the first time since we had the wee one. All in all, a good day.
Sunday we all got up and went to church. Sunday was a double dipper in terms of activities. The first activity was Maya’s baptism. You may lay all of your worries to rest, God and our Lord Jesus Christ have laid proper claim to Maya’s soul. The little baptism ordeal was pretty nice. Complete with candles, warm holy water and good old fashion catholic chanting Maya was welcomed into the church with open arms.
The second activity for Sunday was a “Meet Maya” shower/party that my mom was throwing for the tiny one. In attendance would be all of my moms friends and family and of course another car load full of gifts. Again, very nice to see everyone, and Chrissy Hasty did an amazing job with the food and overall effort. Our favorite gift from this one was a scrap book that my mom had put together for Maya for when she grows up and has a child of her own or gets married. It sort of chronicles the first couple of months of her life and also provides a little info on mom and dad (Michelle and I). It was really neat, sentimental and made Michelle (and nearly me) cry. We would finish the day at my moms with Bianchi’s pizza and Wild Hogs (the movie).
Monday brought an early departure and T-Rex’s fantasy football draft. I could probably write for ever on the drafting experience, but I will leave it at a mention. Had to get home relatively early on Monday so that I could see the mini-me before heading to Edison for the next few days (business trip).
