Sugar Rush...and Turkey Knockout...

Yes it is long since past Halloween, but I’ve been a right slacker when it has come to this blog.  So, I am doing a super update.  Probably going to see at least 6 or 7 new photo galleries and 4 or so new posts.  This post is the end of October/November catch-up post.

Halloween, Maya, Michelle and I went to Christina, Justin and Lyla’s for the candy handing.  We did the same last year and both of the girls were really too small to enjoy the festivities. This year however, both were decked out to the nines in their costumes.  Maya in case you can’t tell from the picture above was a perfect little stinker.   She was a skunk.  Maya  really enjoyed Halloween and all of the candy.  Breaking what we thought was sure to be a cardinal rule, Maya managed to stealth-fully “borrow” a few pieces of candy from the trick-or-treat bowl.  She grabbed them, played the best “mine” game anyone has ever seen and eventually figured out how to get inside to retrieve the well guarded chocolate nectar.  In one hand, she had a Kit Kat, in the next she had a Crunch bar.  Up and down the stairs, chasing the constantly moving candy bowl, Maya was simply loving Halloween.  Everyone had a great time, stayed up to late and snuck far too many pieces of otherwise forbidden chocolate.  We prepared for a high fructose corn syrup hangover.

Also happening since the last post was Thanksgiving.  This year we hit both the Goebel’s and Perrot’s.  Thanksgiving turned out to be a nice quiet little weekend at home.  Marti and Bruce had to cancel dinner plans as too many were sick.  So, just the 5 of us hung out for a couple of days, lazing around and eating too much.  We ended up having a lasagna that I had made a month or so earlier and froze.  After the Goebel’s, we moved on to the Perrot’s where we had a more traditional spread.  Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, stuffing, the works.  We ate, chatted, watched a movie or two, napped once or thrice and longed for a time when we could see our own shoes.

Thanksgiving was great, but as always, we finished the weekend off by going on the most sacred of adventures, the christmas tree hunt.  Up bright and early on Sunday morning, we traipsed through the cold dry lands of “Our Family Tree Farm”.  It must have taken us at least 20 minutes to find the perfect tree in the pre-cut section.   The tree selection seemed a bit smaller this year and there seemed to be more pre-cuts than last year. but a perfect tree we did find.  Tall, skinny and once again christmas tree shaped, we loaded up Grandma and Grandpa Perrot’s four-wheel sleigh and hauled trunk back home.  We spent the rest of that Sunday unpacking christmas decorations and prepping for the holiday season.  Maya quite enjoyed climbing on the step-ladder, scaring everyone with the thin, glass, vintage ornaments and watching everyone put up tons of lights.  Grandma even brought Maya up her own little tree and christmas angel for Maya’s viewing pleasure.  A great weekend for sure.
