The Proxy....

Okay, first the movie.  Really has nothing to do with the post, but it is so funny/cute/surprising that I had to post it.  I have another video I will try and post in the next update.  Enjoy the vid of our little baby girl.

So, the title of the post is the proxy.  This is yet another post about something that I find uniquely womanesqe.  So, just before Thanksgiving, Michelle and I are driving around and I forget where we were going.  On the way, Michelle and I were talking about a pair of boots that she had ordered for her birthday from this place on Damen Ave. call Grace.  She had originally gone into the store and bought a pair, but upon getting them home decided that she liked the boots, but wanted a different color, the black ones.  She was really excited about them, so I said that she should call to see if they were in and we could go get them.  She said she didn’t bring her phone, so i offered mine.  She declined and asked if I could call.  I said okay, sure.  So, I proceed to call the girl at Grace.  I get her on the phone and I explain what it is that I am calling about and that I wanted to know if my wife’s boots had come in or not.  As she is checking, Michelle starts talking about how she hopes they are in before she leaves for the holiday.

The girl at Grace gets back on and says that they aren’t in just yet.  I repeat that so Michelle understands what is going on and at that precise moment I am no longer Travis talking to the girl at Grace, I am now Michelle’s proxy.  She starts telling me to ask the lady questions about her shoes.  “Does she know when they will be in?”  “How late is the store open for when they do come in?”  I no longer need to think for myself because my wife is spoon feeding me questions to ask.  What I find hysterical is that this is a phone call in which I probably shouldn’t have been involved.  Rather than make me the input/output device, Michelle could have easily made the call, asked all of the questions she needed to ask and let me concentrate on driving.  It isn’t that I mind making the call.  I just find it both interesting and funny.  Such is life...
